New data suggests the cost of in-home aged care services has risen significantly since reforms took effect in November 2025. Analysis from CaringCo found some providers have increased prices for services such as personal care, cleaning and gardening by up to 40 per cent following changes under the Aged Care Act 2024.
Average service prices now vary widely across the country. In some areas, personal care support costs more than $110 per hour, while services like gardening, cleaning and nursing support can be significantly higher depending on provider pricing structures.
Advocacy groups say the changes are affecting service access. The Older Persons Advocacy Network reports a sharp increase in calls since the reforms began, with many older Australians seeking advice about rising costs, billing issues and affordability concerns.
