People with Disability Australia (PWDA) has raised concerns about the government’s readiness to deliver major changes to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), warning that existing administrative challenges could make further reforms difficult to implement safely and effectively.
The concerns follow NDIA analysis showing that 40% of a sample of providers continued claiming supports that were no longer permitted under changes introduced in October 2025. PWDA says the finding adds to concerns raised by the Australian National Audit Office that the pace of NDIS reform may be moving faster than the capability of the agencies responsible for administering the scheme.
PWDA acting CEO Megan Spindler-Smith has called on parliament not to pass the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026. She argues that strengthening NDIA administration, compliance, governance and oversight should come before reducing participant supports.
Find out why PWDA says the NDIS needs stronger administrative foundations before the government moves ahead with its proposed reforms.
