A new provider feedback report has revealed widespread concern across the sector, with only 13 per cent of providers reporting a positive experience with the rollout of Support at Home. While there is strong support for the reform’s intent, many say implementation issues are placing significant strain on operations and care delivery.

Assessment delays and administrative demands are among the biggest challenges. All surveyed providers identified assessment bottlenecks as a critical risk, while 88 per cent reported being overwhelmed by increased paperwork and compliance requirements. Unclear government guidance and complex referral pathways are also contributing to disruptions, with half of providers raising concerns about their ongoing financial viability.

Additional transparency and reporting requirements are adding further pressure. Providers say new pricing disclosures and layered compliance reviews are creating confusion for both staff and clients, while increasing administrative workload. Sector leaders are calling for urgent action to simplify processes, improve communication, and address system inefficiencies. Without intervention, providers warn of workforce burnout, reduced services, and potential exits, particularly in regional communities where access to care is already limited.
