The NDIS Commission has published its “What We Heard” consultation report on Bill No. 2, outlining feedback on proposed changes to strengthen the Commission’s powers around compliance, monitoring, and information gathering.
The proposed reforms would introduce new responsibilities for providers and key personnel, alongside an expanded penalty system, anti-promotion and banning orders, and tighter rules for how information is provided and stored. These include shorter response times for document requests and a requirement for data to remain within Australia.
Feedback gathered through the consultation showed broad support for stronger participant safeguards but also highlighted the need for clearer guidance and a balanced approach to implementation. Smaller providers, in particular, raised concerns about the added regulatory pressure the changes might bring.
The Commission has confirmed it will use this feedback to shape an exposure draft of the Bill, giving stakeholders another opportunity to contribute before the legislation progresses. To learn more or read the full report, visit the NDIS Bill No. 2 – Consultation Report
