National Seniors Australia (NSA) has put forward 16 key policy recommendations to address the rising cost of living, healthcare, aged care, banking, and superannuation ahead of the Federal Election.
Backed by insights from the NSA’s 256,000 community members, the recommendations focus on providing immediate relief and long-term solutions for pensioners, part pensioners, self-funded retirees, and pre-retirees. NSA CEO Chris Grice stressed the urgency of these proposals.
“Our policies tackle cost-of-living pressures and major issues like pensions, employment, private health, and housing,” Grice said. “We need real action, not just small steps toward change.”
Key recommendations include allowing pensioners to work without penalties, freezing deeming rates while interest rates remain high, expanding access to Home Care Packages, and supporting Australia Post in delivering full banking services to regional communities.
Grice called on policymakers to be bold in addressing the challenges seniors face, urging candidates to take meaningful action rather than gradual reforms. For more details on NSA’s proposals, read the original article here.
