Data breaches are becoming more rampant, and the disability sector is not safe from cyberattacks. NDIS providers have an obligation to protect the privacy of participants, as the data they hold is sensitive. This can include the participant’s records, financial details, and personal details like addresses and contacts.
There are many forms of cyberattacks in the Disability Sector, including ransomware, data breaches, and phishing scams. One of the most important things you can do to avoid a cyberattack is to be aware and to inform your team. It’s also a must to have strong passwords and consider multi-factor authentication.
When using third-party software, choose one that takes cybersecurity seriously. Do make plans on what to do should a breach occur. As much as you want to prevent a cyberattack, you should also be prepared for what to do if it does happen.
