CareVision celebrates Carinity Hilltop on 50 years of providing exceptional care for aged Australians in Queensland. Hilltop has a long history of care, with the location starting out as a rescue home for young girls and women; Brisbane Industrial Home operated from 1887 to 1922. By 1923, it became an aged persons’ home under the Queensland Council of Churches. In February 1976, Carinity took over Sunsetholme aged care and construction for the current Hilltop building started in 1977. By 1978, Carinity welcomed its first residents.
During Carinity’s 50-year celebration, residents of the aged care home were in attendance, as well as long-serving staff members, and Kevin Griffiths, Carinity CEO. Decades have gone by, but Griffiths continues Carinity’s mission on “providing care grounded in compassion and respect, firmly anchored in Christian love” for “vulnerable people.” He continues that the mission is “not just through buildings or services, but through the everyday acts of kindness that happen within these walls.”
CareVision is proud to be working with an outstanding organisation, and wishes Carinity many more years of dedicated care. Learn more about Carinity Hilltop at carinity.org.au.
