The Aged & Community Care Providers Association (ACCPA) is urging the government to increase funding for essential services, ensuring older Australians can age at home independently.

A recent $37 million boost for aged care meal providers under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) was welcomed by ACCPA. However, CEO Tom Symondson emphasized that more is needed to address rising costs and sustain CHSP services.

“This cost-of-living adjustment is a positive step but highlights the need for further support to ensure service sustainability,” said Mr. Symondson.

With upcoming reforms, including the Support at Home program and new pricing models, home care providers face significant challenges. Mr. Symondson stressed the need for adequate time, resources, and funding to meet these changes, especially as workforce costs rise.

ACCPA continues to collaborate with the government and stakeholders to ensure older Australians receive the care and services they need to age at home with dignity. Visit www.accpa.asn.au for more information.
