Last year, the Australian government replaced Home Care Packages with Support at Home, with a goal to help older Australians to stay within their community and live independently. Home Care Packages had 4 funding levels while Support at Home has 8 funding levels. Coverage include light domestic help and transport at Level 1 to palliative care for Level 8. Support at Home also offers additional programs: End of Life Care, Assistive Technology, and Restorative Care.

All Support at Home clients are assigned a Care Partner who is there to help in planning care and services. Care Partners can also adjust services when needed and also explain fees, which are dependent on assets and income that are assessed by Services Australia.

A helpline is available to help assist older Australians via My Aged Care at 1800 200 422. Alternatively, you can get a free appointment at Services Australia and talk to an Aged Care Specialist Officer.
