New framework plans for the NDIS are set to roll out in April 2027. By then, participants who are 16 years old and up are needed to undergo the I-CAN assessment. What is the I-CAN? It’s a tool developed by the CDS, or the Centre of Disability Studies. The Instrument for the Classification and Assessment of Support Needs will determine the NDIS budget of a participant.
The trouble right now is that the I-CAN Assessments were not originally made for NDIS purposes. However, the University of Melbourne and the CDS are working on modifying this tool to suit NDIS requirements.
The assessment covers everything from mobility and domestic life to self-care, communication, physical health, and more. There is also a scoring system from 0 to 5. For an in-depth look at the I-CAN Assessment, visit teamdsc.com.au.
