NDIS accounts are now being targeted by criminal networks. They are able to do this by accessing the participant’s myGov, via phishing or impersonating staff members. The National Disability Insurance Agency reviews accounts and contacts account holders should they find any evidence that the account is compromised.
To help participants protect themselves from criminal networks, the NDIA encourages them to regularly check NDIS accounts for unusual transactions or activities. Participants should also monitor their NDIS plan and bank account. Being cautious and staying alert for phishing emails and other possible scams also helps.
Meanwhile, government agencies are doing what they can to provide stronger security measures. For more information on how to protect yourself from NDIS scams, head to linkonline.com.au.
