One of the changes that came with Support at Home is the pricing. It uses an individual service model, and participants pay bundled and per-service rates. There is confusion among older Australians and providers alike, especially on premature price caps.

Ageing Australia advocates for the deferral of premature price caps, as it can cause damage to older people and providers. On 19 May 2026, the Minister of Health and Ageing, Hon Mark Butler, and the Minister for Aged Care and Seniors, Hon Sam Rae, announced that Support at Home price caps will be deferred so more evidence can be gathered.

The Government will ensure that prices remain transparent and reasonable during the deferral period. They are also welcoming participation in the working group along with the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission to establish a solid definition of “reasonable” pricing, plus offer clearer guidance for both consumers and providers.
