Deceptive and misleading advertisements that target NDIS participants and their families are becoming more apparent, and the Australian Government is not having it. It should be noted that the NDIA does not approve any form of product or service, which makes any business using ads with “100% NDIS funded”, “NDIS permitted”, and “NDIS approved” or some variation of these words, untrue.
The NDIA has a dedicated team for monitoring these types of advertisements, and in August, they found instances of concerning practices under the Australian Consumer Law, instances of likely breaches under the NDIS Provider Code of Conduct, and even integrity matters under the Fraud Fusion Taskforce. Some of these have resulted in hefty fines for Australian businesses.
To protect NDIS participants and their families, an NDIS Supports list was introduced by the government, so people will know what is and is not funded.
