According to reports, there are over 3000 senior Australians who are stranded in hospitals but are fit to be discharged. In-home care providers are ready to help the country’s health system by supporting these seniors back to their homes.
The Support at Home Program, which officially started on 1 November, aims for elderly Australians to get the support and help that they need to live in their own homes. Funding services cover more than just nursing care, but also domestic chores, like cleaning and gardening.
This new program replaced the old Home Care Package, and one of the major changes is that there is a huge bump in the maximum annual funding, almost $20,000. From $61,440, senior Australians can get a maximum amount of $78,000 under the Support at Home Program.
