The Support at Home (SaH) program has officially commenced, marking the beginning of a new era in aged care. The reform aims to create a simpler, fairer, and more flexible system so older Australians can live safely and independently at home for longer.
Developed through years of consultation, Support at Home responds to what people said they wanted most: more choice and control, clearer pricing, and consistent quality across regions. By replacing the former Home Care Packages (HCP) and Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) with one streamlined model, the government intends to reduce confusion and improve access to care.
Under SaH, providers will operate under a single set of rules, with simpler assessments and fewer administrative barriers. Clients can expect greater flexibility in adjusting services or switching providers, as well as stronger quality standards and clearer cost transparency.
For participants, now is a good time to review current care arrangements, identify new needs, and discuss options with providers. Key questions to consider include how the new hourly rate applies, what new services are available, and how ongoing changes will be communicated.
CareVision continues to support providers through this transition with tools that simplify pricing, scheduling, and client management under the new Support at Home framework.
