At the ACCPA National Conference 2024 in Adelaide, Telstra Health highlighted concerns about the continued use of its discontinued TCM product. In an interview with David Fairbairn of CareVision, Fiorella Hayayumi from Telstra Health provided essential insights into the risks associated with unauthorized TCM usage.
According to Hayayumi, TCM has been an unsupported product since its official discontinuation on April 1, 2024. Without Telstra’s ongoing support, TCM is particularly vulnerable to disruptions during server upgrades, which could lead to system failures. Additionally, TCM’s outdated security features create potential cyber risks, making it a non-compliant choice that falls outside of Telstra’s security policies.
The on-premises use of TCM presents even more challenges, including risks of unauthorized access, potential data theft, and a lack of redundancy. Organizations relying on TCM may also face high dependency on specific personnel for technical know-how, with no training or technical support available from Telstra Health. Hayayumi emphasized that no “Support at Home Changes” or software upgrades are available, leaving users without essential updates or improvements.
In line with Telstra’s policy to discontinue TCM, Hayayumi encouraged anyone aware of continued TCM usage to inform Telstra Health immediately, as TCM’s outdated system no longer meets modern compliance and security standards.
