The Federal Government’s recent announcement of a $900 million investment aims to improve aged care services in rural and remote areas, ensuring older Australians have access to high-quality care, no matter where they live.
This investment includes $600 million for the Support at Home initiative, which will help aged care providers continue offering essential services in areas where access is limited. Additionally, $300 million has been allocated for infrastructure improvements, addressing the unique challenges faced by rural aged-care providers.
Susi Tegen, Chief Executive of the Alliance, emphasised the importance of this investment, highlighting that many older Australians in rural regions are forced to move far from their communities to receive care. This funding will help local providers improve services and attract more healthcare workers to these regions.
The government’s commitment to rural aged care is a vital step toward ensuring that all Australians, regardless of location, receive the dignity and support they deserve as they age.
