The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) will remain a standalone aged care program, with the Australian Government extending its funding until 30 June 2029.

The extension provides greater certainty for providers and the more than 830,000 older Australians who rely on CHSP services, including domestic assistance, transport, Meals on Wheels and social support. Contracts for CHSP providers, including local councils, will continue without interruption.

The Government will use the additional two years to consult with the sector on the program’s long-term future, including block funding, fair contributions and how early intervention services can help reduce pressure across the broader aged care system.
