NDIS Participants need to be aware that the NDIA can possibly suspend their plans or revoke altogether their NDIS access should they not respond to NDIA contact. The ‘no contact’ provisions are included in the NDIS Act and rules will be implemented by 1st October 2026.

The older population aren’t as dependent on their mobile phones as younger generations. It is possible that they may miss a call or simply not be able to respond to contact attempts by the NDIA. Participants can lose their funding if no response is received by the NDIA. Once a number of reasonable attempts are made funding can be suspended, and if 90 days no contact continues, the NDIA can revoke a participant’s status.

Participants, family and friends of participants, and care providers should understand Participant’s rights, as well as safeguards, so participants can continue to receive the best care possible.
