It has been more than 6 months since Support at Home officially launched. This program replaced the Home Care Package Program, which helps older Australians to stay at home through services. Participants and care providers alike have been having trouble with SAH, as its funding model leaves a lot of people paying way too much. Needs aren’t met as participants have become budget-conscious.
One of the major problems encountered in SAH is the assessment. It takes too long for participants to be re-assessed, and some complain about their assessment not being right. Those who got their assessments and were approved then faced a new problem, which was waiting for services.
There is a call for reassessing SAH itself so that older Australians can get the help and services that they need. Learn more about SAH issues at johnmenadue.com.
