At the NSW/ACT peak body conference, Tom Symondson, the CEO of Ageing Australia, reiterated the trouble the aged care sector is facing with Support at Home. The program has not delivered on its promise, and there are thousands of participants still waiting to get an approved package. There are even 100,000 participants who have already been approved but have not gotten their package yet.
Despite the bleakness of the situation, Mr Symondson left encouraging words at the conference. Optimism is a must, and the delegates should look out for places where improvement and change are needed instead of being sucked down into a pessimistic outlook.
The Ageing Australia CEO has pointed out small wins, such as deferring price caps and getting the government to review the IAT.
