The Australian Government’s decision to adjust the rollout date of the new Aged Care Act to 1 November 2025 has received strong support from sector leaders. Peak body Ageing Australia welcomed the move, highlighting the need for realistic implementation timelines to ensure a safe and well-prepared transition for both providers and older Australians.

While the sector continues to back the new rights-based Aged Care framework, many providers raised concerns about the feasibility of a 1 July rollout, citing incomplete guidance and unresolved operational requirements. The revised timeline gives aged care organisations additional time to finalise systems, agreements, and internal processes, critical steps to delivering reform without compromising care quality.

“This is a win for the 1.4 million older Australians who rely on aged care,” said Ageing Australia CEO Tom Symondson.
